Assoc Dir-Advanced Analytics

This position is typically found in Big Data and/or customer focused organizations where analysis of Big Data is critical to the success of the business. Supervises a group with advanced skills in the use of predictive modeling, statistics, trend analysis, and other data analysis techniques to collect, explore, and identify the right data to be analyzed from internal and external sources to explain or predict behavior and or solve a variety of business problems and monetize products for sale.


Key Roles and Responsibilities: Support and Lead Data Science projects within the Field Service and Technical Operations Domain of AT&T Communications. 

Broad scope covering supply chain, finance, planning and engineering, construction, network operations, field force management, and more.  Will be responsible for managing direct reports of data scientists and engineers.


Supervises a group that gathers, analyzes, and interprets a wide variety of data to identify causal relationships, trigger points and ultimately make predictions on customer behavior. Projects may include churn analysis, customer behavior and segmentation, sales analysis, product level analysis (adoption, price elasticity modeling) and customer experience analysis. Builds predictive models using data, tests the model on results outside of the sample size and verifies the model in the real world. Quantifies significance of data variances, applies an array of statistical methods ranging from traditional to newly-developing within the Big-Data space. Develops reports, charts, tables, and other visual aids in support of findings. Advises business partners with regards to patterns and relationships in data to recommend business direction or outcomes.

Job Contribution: Works on unusually complex problems and provides solutions that are highly creative. Determines and pursues courses of actions essential in obtaining desired data and outcomes. Uses independent judgment to accomplish objectives and is able to supervise a group of highly seasoned professionals in this area of expertise.

Education: Typically possesses advanced college degree in Statistics, Mathematics and or Computer Science or Ph.D. in related fields, Data Analytics or Machine Learning nanodegree; or related expertise.

Experience: Typically possesses strong understanding of internal business segment or stakeholders and strong presentation skills. Typically requires 8-10 years related experience in advanced analytics, big data, relational database structures, research methods, sampling techniques, and system testing as well as supervisory experience.

Expertise in machine learning and AI with demonstrated experience in multiple areas of Optimization, Classification, Forecasting, Reinforcement Learning, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing, and others.  Expertise working in Big Data environment with working expertise in Big Data tools.

Good communication skills and ability to present complex topics in digestible form to leadership and business partners.  Negotiating skills to work with business partners to formulate feasible solutions.  Project management skills to keep data science projects on track and within budget.
