Manager, Security Technology Training

Job Overview:
 
Security Technology Training Manager will be responsible for the development, implementation, execution, maintenance, and tracking of the enterprise security training program and compliance for Macy’s Inc with a primary focus on Macy’s Technology. While this position reports to Learning and Development, it works closely with the Enterprise Security and IT Services (ESIS) team.
 
Perform other duties as assigned.  This position is based out of John's Creek, Atlanta.
 
Essential Functions:
 
Security & Technology (20%)
• Works with the senior management of the ESIS team to define, develop, execute, track and maintain a multi-level enterprise security training program based on industry standards, compliance, and Macy’s specific implementations.
• Stays current on information security technologies, trends, standards, compliance, and best practices in the industry and current security implementations at Macys.
• Stays current on the software development lifecycle (SDLC), agile iterative development process, and software development best practices (from awareness to secure coding, etc.) at Macys.
• Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.
 
Program Development (40%)
• Works with the ESIS team to define, plan, develop, and deliver a sustainable strategic multi-level security training program (mission, scope, 3-horizons, etc.).
• Works with the ESIS team to identify best practices, lessons learned, and strategies for delivering a security training curriculum (by roles, levels, badges, and certifications).
• Works with the ESIS team to conduct needs assessments to identify and evaluate training requirements for high impact security training—delivered by outside vendors and/or internal subject matter experts (SME) using instructor-led or online/web-based methodologies.
• Works with ESIS team to evaluate and curate licensed, online instructional resources provided by third-party vendors (SkillPort, etc.) to supplement security training needs.
• Works with the ESIS team to evaluate effectiveness of security training program and track results utilizing appropriate data collection instruments (including systems, databases, and dashboards) and procedures to drive return on investment (ROI).
• Works with Compliance and Governance teams at Macy’s to include security policies, standards (OWASP, PCI, etc.), and procedures in the security training program.
• Consults with cross-functional teams, leaders and stakeholders and serves as point-of-contact for security training needs.
 
Learning Development (40%)
• Designs and develops an overall learning experience based on the security training curriculum to implement the program.
• Designs and develops instructor-led training (ILT) and /or online training courses (learning assets) to build the security training curriculum.
• Uses project management techniques (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, etc.) and tools to manage project details (objectives, plans, budgets, schedules, action items, risks, changes, deliverables, reports, retrospectives, etc.) and resources (staff, facilities and vendors, etc.) on a daily/annual basis.
• Produces metrics (ROI, tracking, etc.) showing program results and compliance against success standards. Monitors data and status using systems, databases, and dashboards (creates/develops as needed).
Provides regular project reviews and updates for senior leadership, stakeholders, ESIS team, and other related teams. Must be responsive to questions, assist with requests, and escalate issues as needed to the appropriate level of management.

Qualifications:
 
Education/Experience:
 
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience with 3 years of experience with security or IT risk-related work in a software development environment.
• 3 years of experience with curriculum development and/or learning design, including developing content for technical and non-technical end-users.
 
Communication Skills:
 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to facilitate effective meetings and work with project teams.
• Strong presentation development and delivery skills and the ability to facilitate training programs.
• Ability to communicate technical related-work with technical and non-technical staff.
 
Mathematical Skills:
 
• Must have above average mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
 
Reasoning Ability:
 
• Proven analytical, problem solving ability, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to understand, address and work with technical issues.
• Proven experience identifying solutions for complex problems in enterprise environments.
 
Physical Demands:
 
• This position involves extended periods of sitting and the extensive use of computer and the office equipment.
• May involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
• Involves close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
 
Other Skills:
 
• Proficient working with Microsoft Office 365; Outlook, Power Point, Word, Excel, and Project.
• Ability to interact positively with diverse personalities; tactful; mature; flexible.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
• Consistently demonstrates regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.
• Must be trustworthy in keeping sensitive data confidential.
 
(Preferred Experience)
• Industry Certification, e.g. CISSP, CISA, CISM or equivalent designation.
• Industry Project Management Certification, e.g. PMP, CSM or equivalent designation.
 
Security Skills:
• Knowledge of common OS and domain structures, servers, services, and associated vulnerabilities, and experience with Windows, Linux, UNIX, etc. hosts, operating systems and applications.
• Knowledge of network engineering and local and wide area (LAN/WAN) technologies and topologies.
• Knowledge of IT systems – on-line retail experience helpful.
• Knowledge of cloud deployments and associated risk considerations.
 
Learning Design Skills:
• Skilled developing ILT and online eLearning courses.
• Skilled working with eLearning tools and related software (such as Captivate, Camtasia, Snag It, Audition, Audacity, etc.).
• Proficient working with graphic tools (such as Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).
 
Management Skills:
• No direct reports.
• Ability to effectively lead initiatives and programs, and work effectively with multiple cross-functional teams and stakeholders, in different time zones.
• Highly organized, able to lead multiple projects concurrently and effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-moving and complex environment.
• Strong conflict resolution, negotiation, and consensus-building skills.
• Ability to influence staff and vendor partners to drive ongoing improvements in innovation, performance, and engagement.
 
Work Hours:
 
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and store/company needs.
