Overview of Position:
As a VP of Analytics & Reporting your mission would be to deliver technology solutions and systems for Business Analytics, which would be the EYES of Macy’s business with fast and accurate decisions. Responsible to deliver analytics & reporting capabilities to the business partners with a focus on consistency, leverage and operational excellence. This will be a transformational group with the responsibility of the transforming legacy and current reporting systems into real time analytics capabilities. Evolve the analytics systems to provide fast, easy and real-time trends, predictive trends and call to action data points. We are looking for a leader who has deep expertise in this space and passionate to lead transformation at a large-scale enterprise with a customer focus. You would be responsible for systems such as (but not limited to ) BI ( cognos, SQL, Teradata),EDW/DDW, OBIE, Digital analytics and reporting, hubble and other reporting systems across the enterprise.
Reporting to the Macy’s CTO - the VP of Analytics & Reporting would lead these teams and systems, in close partnership with all business/technology functions. This is a new role created for Macys and is very critical for the success of the company given the importance of data and analytics in operations and decision-making. This role will require not only technical skills to drive the analytics solutions but also a deep business understanding and willingness to work with multiple business partners and sponsors to provide solutions.

Build and optimize reporting solutions to reduce cost of ownership by increasing leverage
Evolve reporting systems to real time analytics
Consistency of solutions and minimizing maintenance
Consolidate & transform heterogeneous reporting systems into shared enterprise capabilities
Automate everywhere through careful design and risk management
Reduce time to market
Build analytics to help make fast and accurate decisions at various levels.
Leverage DaaS as the source of data for reporting and analytics
This is a challenging and senior leadership position that requires strategic leadership, exceptional technical skills, and strong management and communication skills working with technical staff, senior management, and external partners.
Key Accountabilities:
Lead Enterprise Analytics & Reporting group.
The position is an entrepreneurial mix of exceptional team management, technology ownership, ability to manage and mentor architects, coupled with strong interface skills working with the business stakeholders
You would be the technical leader and manager of your team, responsible for hiring, retaining and mentoring the talent.
Mentor and coach leaders reporting to the position and all manager positions.
You would be responsible to plan & manage the budget for your teams and projects.
You would be responsible for portfolio and resource planning for your areas.
You would be responsible for partnership and collaboration with various cross-functional teams like product management, process, project and program management, infrastructure, operations and business teams etc.
Responsible to ensure successful execution of technical strategies, architecture guidelines and standard by being the technical voice for architecture, analysis and technical strategies.
Maintain strategic partnerships and drive joint initiatives with the corporate divisions: Stores, Customer Service, IT, and Marketing
Provides direction and directives to direct reports in the performance of their duties, establishing work priorities, and in achieving company initiatives
Ensures that Macys customer experience is effective and best-in-class by building best in class architecture
Skills Summary:
Overall 15 years of experience in the software development and high volume enterprise reporting & analytics systems
7 years of experience in managing and overseeing enterprise level programs, which require extensive collaboration across various groups in a matrix organization.
Self driven, passionate leader and evangelist with expertise and experience of delivering full life cycle of architecture & engineering centered projects.
Expert leader at delivery and execution in an agile and lean development environment.
Thinker and planner – able to see potential issues and requirements ahead of time, plan and execute them.
8 years of extensive reporting & analytics solution building.
5 years of experience with open source technology technologies preferably within a high volume eCommerce environment.
Expertise in modernizing reporting systems into true analytics capabilities with a customer focus.
Experience and passion to work in a fast paced Agile environment, delivering functional features in small time durations.
Experience and knowledge of cloud enabled services / applications.
MA/MS and BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field strongly preferred
Strong general knowledge in Internet Technology and Software Development Lifecycle, including current industry trends and their application
Experience in recruiting, hiring, and training diverse personnel in business, development, operations and quality assurance teams focusing on high performance and professional development
Ability to balance short term tactical decisions with long term strategic thinking
Demonstrable leadership abilities in changing, ambiguous and challenging situations
Demonstrable presentation, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
