Overview:
Macy’s Systems & Technology is seeking a Sr. Infrastructure Engineer. A seasoned professional and experienced technical contributor in the e-commerce Infrastructure Project Delivery organization who has e-commerce system expertise and infrastructure knowledge. Advises on discrete technology-related business problems, formulates options including assessing relative risks/rewards, and works with others to determine the best solution for the work group. Acting with some direction, supports the project and management teams in providing technical consulting and implementation of complex e-commerce systems within MST standards and methodologies. Analyzes a wide variety of technical requirements and develops effective solutions. Regularly works with java application servers and web servers: installs, tunes and trouble shoots. Possesses technical knowledge of all areas that support e-commerce systems, including operating systems, networks, security, and storage. Communicates effectively with peers who manage and implement requirements. Evaluates and implements third party products in the e-commerce environment. Within the scope of a work assignment, this role is seen as a key point of contact within and must ensure the project meets expectations. Performs other duties as assigned.
Key Accountabilities:
- Plays a leadership role for implementing infrastructure of new e-commerce applications using technologies such as WebSphere , JBOSS, WebLogic or SpringDM.
- Directs the design, implementation and builds initial test environment configurations in the internal cloud computing environment.
- Works independently and provides guidance within technical areas, applying in-depth knowledge of multiple technologies.
- Leads technical aspects of ecommerce project planning, task duration estimation and project artifact compilation.
- Gives guidance to junior associates who write tickets, manages, verifies and supports changes for project implementation.
- Identifies and compiles necessary firewall, load balancing and other network changes necessary for project implementation.
- Provides technical leadership in their area of specialization.
- Forms productive networks with internal and external customers.
- Creates and customizes presentations to the interests of various audiences.
- Interacts regularly at the Director level with customers.
- Consistently demonstrates regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.
Skills Summary:
- Bachelor's degree and 5-7 years of experience required.
- Candidates in this role need to have 3 years' experience supporting a high trafficked e-commerce site (operations experience a strong plus).
- Experience with various scripting and programming languages such as Perl, Python, Shell Scripting, Jython, Ruby, JSON, Java, or Jacl
- Experience with Continuous Integration using tools such as GIT, Maven / Gradle, Jenkins/Hudson, Sonar, Cobertura/ clover and Artifactory
- 3 years' experience with industry standard web application servers (JBOSS experience preferred, JBOSS Certification a strong plus).
- 3 years UNIX experience (including Linux, AIX, Solaris).
- 3 years' experience with industry standard web servers (EWS or Apache experience a plus).
- 3 years' experience with a Build and Deployment tool (Chef Server and or uDeploy a strong plus).
- This candidate should have 3 years' experience in implementing systems within a complex secure network.
- Very strong analysis/troubleshooting skills, strong partnering/relationship building.
- MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Lotus Notes or MS Outlook.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and analytical skills.
- Very strong analysis/troubleshooting skills, strong partnering/relationship building skills. Strong leadership skills, including ability to effectively participate in decision making process on key project issues (e.g. task scheduling, project duration estimation and architectural and system design).
- Regular - walking, standing, sitting, hearing, seeing, talking, using hand and fingers for writing, typing and
using a mouse, moving/lifting items under 10 pounds. Occasional - stooping, kneeling, or crouching. May also involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
