Macy's Logistics & Operations in Stone Mountain, GA is a Distribution center that provides service for Macys and Bloomingdales stores. We are conducting a search for a talented fulltime Manager, Operations, motivated to assist the Director/leader to provide leadership to the entire distribution function. Other responsibilities include:
Essential Functions:
Daily Operations:
Provides guidance to daily operations activities to ensure, a high degree of coordination and cooperation between different functions; maintenance of clean and organized work place
Provides guidance and direction to working supervisors for the operation of an area(s) of the Distribution center so that they contribute to the overall successful movement of merchandise within established levels of service, accuracy, and productivity standards.
Demonstrates a strong commitment to use floor time on a daily basis to build associate affiliation and build effective channels of communication on operational and Employee Relations issues.
Work across functional areas to plan production requirements and resource needs. Adapt and adjust to changing business requirements throughout the shift
Must be team oriented and willing to operate in alignment with peers
Must be action oriented taking a proactive approach to achieving results
Training and Development:
Ensures associates are trained/cross-trained and certified in operational specifics as well as high involvement skills.
Documents performance issues and administers timely corrective action where warranted after partnering with Human Resources.
Practices open and continuous communication; values keeping others well informed; presents written and verbal ideas in easily understood ways; conducts effective meetings.
Establishes and communicates daily goals and provides frequent assessment of progress towards those goals
Engages team members to provide department level productivity results and individual performance assessments
Recognizes and celebrates individual and team performance with positive reinforcement.
Staffing /Scheduling:
Uses volume projections to generate schedules for associates in assigned departments and shifts.
Hours and Payroll Administration - Ensures the accurate and timely administration and reporting of hours worked by associates by department.
Ensures accurate reporting of vacation's and scheduled time off.
Hiring:
Participates in the interviewing and selection of new team members.
Ensures departmental specifics are covered in New Associate Orientation.
Safety and Accident Prevention:
Sets the tone through awareness and education of associates that everyone is responsible and accountable for center-wide safety and health. Empowers the team to address any safety issues identified.
Ensures safe workplace behaviors are taught and used at all times; and where necessary, are enforced.
Establishes team pride in maintaining orderliness and housekeeping. Performs behavioral observations to ensure safe techniques are being used.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
2-3 years leading and participating on teams.
Communication Skills:
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage in a manner that promotes a shared vision and gains buy in
Mathematical Skills:
Analytical skills and the ability to interpret operational reports
Ability to calculate hours requirements based on projected volume and productivity goals
Ability to calculate and assess resource requirements based on work mix and completion timing requirements
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to make sound decisions and manage several processes simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and challenge the status quo
Ability to interpret financial and operational reports. Identify trends and develop plans to achieve results based on data
Physical Demands:
Fast paced position that requires frequent walking within and outside area of responsibility.
This position involves regular walking, standing, and may also involve lifting, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
Other skills:
Must possess strong leadership skills
Should be strategically minded with the ability to see the big picture and permit their team to execute the plan and be tactical
Possess intermediate Excel and Outlook (or other e-mail platform) knowledge and skills
Experience with Warehouse Management systems preferred
Work Hours:
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
