Overview:
 
This automation developer will design and develop infrastructure automation workflows for automating services within the My Services environment for consumption by both My Services and customers (e.g. MCOM, MST).  This will also extend into future Cloud Services environments and infrastructure that are in development.  The candidate will work on a cross-functional team that is responsible for streamlining automation and developing cloud solutions for Macys.  The role will also work with the service catalog to configure service offerings that will allow self-service by customers to provision required services.  Candidate will need to be flexible and willing to learn new technologies as the cloud services adapt to new capabilities and customer requirements.
Under minimal supervision serves as a technical contributor in the Cloud Services / Automation team with a focus on data center automation.  Works within the project management methodology to analyze a wide variety of automation requirements and design appropriate solutions.  Has knowledge of a wide variety of infrastructure solutions supporting a high volume infrastructure.  Possesses intermediate technical knowledge of automation frameworks, automation tools as they relate to operating systems, network, security, and storage.  Scripting and programming skills are desirable.  Evaluates and implements third party, open source and in-house solutions to enhance automation solutions.  Communicates effectively with managers and team members and operational support personnel.  Implements effective processes within own team and across other teams and manages change to support project implementation.  Mentors junior team members.   Performs other duties as assigned.
 
 
Skills Summary:
  • Candidates in this role need to have strong Scripting/development experience (JAVA, JEE, .NET, Ruby, Python, PowerShell, C , etc.)
  • Good communication skills and ability to build business relationships
  • System Administration skills on Linux and Windows
  • Ability to solve complex problems with simple and repeatable solutions.
  • Candidates in this role need to have 1-3 years hands on experience designing/automating infrastructure with a focus on scripting/developing and consuming APIs for data center activities using appropriate 3rd party and open source tools.  Strong analysis/troubleshooting skills. Strong partnering/relationship building skills.
  • Participates in decision making for architecture and system design. Participates in the decision making process for project task scheduling and duration estimation. Analyzes and makes recommendations for cloud/infrastructure solutions.
  • Systems/PC applications required are:  MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook),
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Bachelor's Degree (preferably with Computer Science or Mathematics major or Engineering equivalent) and 5 -7 years of relevant experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.      

                         

Desirable:

  • Experience with virtualization and/or Cloud APIs (VMware, OpenStack, AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • Knowledge of datacenter management (DNS, AD, IPAM)
  • Experience with TDD/BDD and CI/CD
  • Experience with workflow/automation tools (HP OO, Chef, Puppet, Cisco Prime, HP Server Automation)
Key Accountabilities:
  • Designs, implements and builds automation solutions for Macy's infrastructure.
  • Leads project planning, task duration estimation and project artifact compilation.
  • Facilitates reuse of automation solutions, patterns and processes across diverse Infrastructure and Field Services teams.
  • Works with other Infrastructure and Field Services teams and assist/consult, as needed in their automation projects.
  • Advises management on automation opportunities, and recommends appropriate tools and processes for such opportunities.
  • Consistently demonstrates regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.
