Part-Time Public Safety Officer

Johnson State College - Johnson, VT

Protect people and property on campus, and assist in handling of various emergency situations.

• Patrol campus buildings and grounds to prevent or deal with any incidents of theft, vandalism, fire or fire hazards, disorderly conduct, violation of college polices including: traffic, safety, security or other regulations.
• Ensure that all buildings are locked and unlocked as appropriate;
• Respond to calls involving medical emergencies; administer first aid and/or call for additional assistance as needed.
• Call for and assist local fire and rescue personnel as needed; provide security services such as parking and traffic direction, crowd control, and the like, for special events.
• Respond to and collaborate with Residence Life on student issues
• Interact positively and respectfully with the Johnson State College community

High school education plus two or more years of relevant experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired;

• Good working knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, fire prevention and firefighting methods; relevant first aid training and knowledge of CPR
• desirable
• Ability to effectively deal with a wide range of individuals; ability to train and oversee work of others; and physical ability to perform all job duties.
• Willingness to work nights and weekends
• Clean driving record
