Assistant Women’s & Men’s Soccer Coach

Under the guidelines of Keuka College, the NEAC Conference and the NCAA, the assistant coach, assists the head coach in all aspects of the assigned sport. As a head coach, they are responsible for all aspects of the assigned sport program, including but not limited to: Recruiting, eligibility, game and practice plans, budget preparation and monitoring, scheduling, supervising and monitoring assistant coaches, public relations and promotion of the sport and department, fundraising, supervision of student athletes and staff during practices, contests and trips to insure they represent Keuka College in a positive manner, work collaboratively and collegially with fellow staff members, others duties as assigned. It is also the responsibility of the head coach to assure that all Keuka College, NEAC and NCAA rules and regulations are followed. Any violation of Keuka College, NEAC or NCAA rules is prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Work will include occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Identify and recruit student athletes who are capable of competing successfully on the NCAA Division III level and who are capable of succeeding academically.
  • Assist in and develop season practice and game plans.
  • Determine individual and team strengths and develop strategies to maximize performance.
  • Ensure that appropriate safety precautions are taken in practice, games and during team travel.
  • Discipline student-athletes for infractions of rules, regulations and policies.
  • Attend athletics staff meetings.
  • Work with administrators to stay within fiscal and budgetary guidelines.
  • Assist in the promotion of the program whenever and wherever possible.
  • Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous attitude at all times towards co-workers, internal and external customers, representing Keuka College, its programs, policies and procedures in a positive and professional manner.
  • Maintain effective working relationships to ensure institution-wide teamwork.
  • Attend provided/necessary trainings and other meetings to support effectiveness within the position as required.
  • Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the Keuka College mission, vision and values and adhering to institutional policies.
  • Maintain high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Preferred qualifications: Bachelors required, Masters preferred and 2 years of coaching or playing experience.
  2. Must have time management flexibility and be able to sustain long work hours including evenings, early mornings and weekends.
  3. Position requires frequent travel.
  4. Attention to detail and high standards for quality and ability to respect confidentiality.
  5. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  6. Understand and behave with a high level of integrity and complete confidentiality at all times.
  7. Ability to be sensitive to and respond to needs/concerns of students, faculty, college staff and the public.
  8. Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions, and the ability to work with diverse groups of people.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds
  • Must be able to work on your feet for an extended period of time
