DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The
Bursar
reports
to the
Comptroller
and performs the following
duties:
Supervise the Cashier and Student Accounts Receivable personnel to include the billing and
receipt of revenue related to student credit/non
-credit tuition and fees. Current staff includes
three professional and four clerical employees.
The Cashier’s office is responsible for the cashiering and depositing of all receipts for Hudson
Valley Commu
nity College and the Educational Opportunity Center.
Supervise processing of all student registration payments
Responsible for managing the collection process for delinquent student accounts.
Responsible for working with technical personnel on the dev
elopment and maintenance of
computerized systems to ensure accountability and improve services to students.
Responsible for the analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts as they relate to the
cashiering and receivable functions.
Responsible for the maintenance of administrative software set up and rules used to assess
charges to students.
Assist the Comptroller and Assistant Comptroller in financial reporting.
Assist independent auditors during annual financial aud
it.
Responsible for financial aid disbursements process.
Responsible for responding to student inquiries relative to financial aid disbursements.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Comptroller.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and minimum 3 years’ experience or
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Management related field and minimum 6 years related experience.
Master’s
Degree in related field preferred.
Three years of experience in a post
-secondary educational institution
utilizing computerized account practices; three years of supervisory experience. Proficiency in computer
software products including Microsoft Excel, Word and Access; demonstrated analytical skills and excellent
oral and written communication skills. Experience with SCT Banner s
oftware and customer service experience
is desirable.
